NBA Legend Vince Carter to Celebrate Two Jersey Retirements in 2024-25

Two NBA teams are reportedly considering Vince Carter for the 2024–25 season.

The Brooklyn Nets have already stated that they will retire the jersey of the Basketball Hall of Famer. As per various rumours, the Toronto Raptors are planning to do the same.

Carter’s No. 15 will be retired by the Raptors ahead of the Nets, according TSN. It is said that the ceremony will take place on November 2 when the club plays the Sacramento Kings. In the history of the Raptors, he will be the first player to have their jersey number retired.

This year, Toronto celebrates its 30th NBA season.

On January 25, when the Nets play the Miami Heat at Barclays Centre, Carter’s jersey will be hoisted to the rafters.

Carter was chosen in the 5th round of the 1998 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. After that, he was sent to the Raptors in exchange for Antawn Jamison. With his incredible dunking skills, which haven’t been seen since Dominique Wilkins’ heyday, Carter quickly established himself as one of the NBA’s most captivating stars.

After spending little over five seasons with Toronto, he was named Rookie of the Year in 1999. During the first-ever postseason run by the team in franchise history, he was a member of the squad.

Then, in the 2004–05 season, the franchise completed a huge trade with the New Jersey Nets. After that, Carter rose to prominence as one of the Nets’ most talked-about players ever. With his spectacular dunks, he destroyed the Continental Airlines Arena and Izod Centre. He was an ideal one-two with Jason Kidd.

It took him four full seasons to play in East Rutherford before he was signed by the Orlando Magic.

With the Raptors and the Nets, Carter averaged 23.4 and 23.6 points per game, respectively. His final game as an NBA player occurred just hours before the league closed due to the coronavirus outbreak in 2019–20.
