NCAA Wrestling 2025: Penn State Becomes Only the Second D1 Team to Reach 10 All-Americans

On Friday night, the Nittany Lions celebrated three pivotal victories in the blood round, making them only the second team in NCAA Division I history to produce 10 All-Americans in a single season. This extraordinary milestone was previously reached only by Minnesota in 2001, adding to the significance of Penn State’s achievement.

A highlight of the evening was top-seeded 157-pounder Tyler Kasak, who bounced back from a quarterfinal upset earlier in the day. In an exhilarating consolation match, he triumphed with a 5-4 win over Jude Swisher, escaping a late leg attack and officially becoming the 10th Nittany Lion to earn All-American honors in Philadelphia.

Penn State’s momentum continued with impressive performances from Luke Lilledahl and Braeden Davis, both of whom secured their All-American status by winning their blood round matches. Lilledahl rebounded from a challenging quarterfinal loss, defeating Wisconsin’s Nicolar Rivera 7-3 at 125 pounds. Meanwhile, Davis faced off against returning All-American Evan Frost of Iowa State, clinching a hard-fought 4-2 victory at 133 pounds with a crucial first-period takedown.

With seven wrestlers already achieving podium finishes earlier in the day through quarterfinal victories, Penn State’s historic run highlights both its depth and dominance, further reinforcing its status as one of the most powerful programs in collegiate wrestling.
