The Money Heist spin-off series Berlin has been renewed for a second season on Netflix.
Pedro Alonso, who played the title role in the first season, will return in the second one along with Michelle Jenner as Keila, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña Fernández as Roi, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.
The Spanish-language show sets up the events of “Money Heist” (also known as “La casa de papel”) in advance. Similar to the first season of the show, “Berlin” follows Alonso’s character and the others as they attempt to pull off an enormous, million dollar theft. In 2025, Season 2 filming will get started.
The show debuted in 91 countries and reached the Top 10 charts, making it the most watched series on Netflix worldwide in its first week of release. With 53 million views in total, it has been in the Top 10 on the non-English TV charts for seven weeks running. As of right moment, it ranks 7th in Netflix’s history for non-English language series.
“Money Heist: Berlin” was created by “Money Heist” creators Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato.
“Berlin” is the latest addition to Netflix’s “Money Heist” series, following the huge success of the original series. The streamer also debuted the Korean version of the show, titled “Money Heist: South Korea – Joint Economic Zone,” which premiered in two parts in June and December 2022.
Money Heist originally aired on the Spanish television channel Antena 3, but was acquired by Netflix in 2017, which acquired worldwide streaming rights to the series. Its popularity exploded around the world, and the show quickly became one of the most-watched non-English programs of all time.
