As winter blurs, and the northern half of the globe starts to defrost, now is the ideal time to observe Nowruz. The ancient holiday that marks the beginning of spring is the focus of today’s Doodle. On this day every year, the season of rebirth is celebrated by more than 300 million people worldwide. The artwork for today’s Doodle features tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, and bee orchids, all of which illustrate this theme.
Did you know that Nowruz is recognized as a worldwide holiday by the United Nations? This is due to the fact that families all over the Middle East, the South Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin, and Northern, Western, Central, and South Asia celebrate this joyful festival.
In a lot of cultures, Nowruz also marks the start of a new year. This is a time to think back on the past, make plans for the future, and build relationships with loved ones. Among the many common customs are: Decorating eggs in honor of new life, cleaning up your home to get ready for a new start, and eating spring vegetables and herbs are all part of the celebration.
To everyone who celebrates, Happy Nowruz! I wish you a happy, peaceful, and hopeful new year.
