Set yourselves up for the arrival of Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Angelica Pickles, Susie Carmichael and Phil and Lil DeVille.
An all-new “Rugrats” CG-animated series is scheduled to debut on streaming service Paramount Plus (née CBS All Access) in 2021, reported Nickelodeon at ViacomCBS’ financial backer day.
Set to repeat their jobs are stars E.G. Day by day (Tommy), Nancy Cartwright (Chuckie), Cheryl Chase (Angelica), Cree Summer (Susie) and Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil). Nickelodeon Animation Studio is creating the restoration, which vows to follow the babies as “they explore the world and beyond from their pint-sized and wildly imaginative point-of-view.”
The first “Rugrats” series, which appeared in 1991 on Nickelodeon, ran for nine seasons across 13 years, acquiring four Daytime Emmys and six Kids’ Choice Awards.
“Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the globe, and this original version is one we are taking great care and pride in creating for a brand-new audience,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation. “Having the voice cast behind these special characters come together is one of the essential pieces to making the show recognizable and we can’t wait to watch this talented group bring them to life again.”
The CG-animated revival depends on the first arrangement made by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain. Eryk Casemiro and Kate Boutilier are leader creating with Dave Pressler and Casey Leonard on board as co-chief makers and Rachel Lipman as co-maker. Mollie Freilich, Nickelodeon’s senior director of current series animation, is administering the creation.
Independently, ViacomCBS is rebooting “Dora the Explorer” and “Fairly OddParents” as live-action series.
