On Tuesday, pop star Taylor Swift announced additional Eras Tour dates in Asia, Australia, and Europe, extending her performances until summer 2024.
According to report, the international leg of Swift’s Eras Tour will begin in Mexico City in August of this year. After that, Swift will hang up her guitar until November before returning to stadium shows. Initially, the tour had just over 50 dates. Now, it has more than 100.
The Asia tour of Swift will begin on February 7 with four nights in Japan’s Tokyo Dome. She will then travel to Singapore, Melbourne, and Sydney in Australia, before beginning the tour’s European leg in May with two shows in Paris. Swift will conclude the Eras Tour on August 17, 2024, at Wembley Stadium in London, unless she adds additional dates.
The Eras Tour got off to a rocky start when angry fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster for allegedly violating antitrust laws meant to protect market competition during pre-sales of tickets.
According to the lawsuit, Ticketmaster sent pre-sale codes to more fans than it could process. Consequently, millions of fans were unable to purchase tickets.
However, the tour is poised to make Swift a billionaire and could become one of the highest-grossing tours ever, with Swift performing to sold-out audiences regardless. Forbes claims that Swift’s Eras Tour could add $500 million to her current estimated net worth of $570 million.
As a result of Swift’s tour dates, some cities are even seeing increases in their local economies. CBS Philadelphia reported increases in hotel reservations and ticket sales at visitor centers in Philly.
The attendance of 73,117 at the Acrisure Stadium for Swift’s second show in Pittsburgh over the weekend set a new record for the venue.
