In 2025, HBO’s The Last of Us will premiere its second season. Max released a new teaser that revealed the date and provided an overview of the 2024 lineup.
The information was disclosed by showrunner Craig Mazin, who revealed that due to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, production will begin on February 12, 2024, rather than the scheduled date of February 12. The first episode’s script was turned in before the strike, so even with the delay, work on the second season is still underway. An outline has already been developed.
The upcoming season will occur several years following the first one. Presumably, it will be a remastered edition of The Last of Us Part II, a video game that will be released on January 19, 2024, for the PlayStation 5. Pedro Pascal (Joel) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) will make a comeback, and it is said that someone has already been cast in the role of Abby Anderson, albeit they are not yet know of the actor.
The brief Max teaser featured scenes from The White Lotus, Euphoria, And Just Like That, and the 2025 prequel series to Stephen King’s It, Welcome to Derry, in addition to The Last of Us.
Naturally, viewers also got to see sneak peeks at upcoming 2024 series including Tokyo Vice, Hacks, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Penguin, a new Batman spinoff. The Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon, whose trailer released earlier this month in anticipation of its release next summer, was also teased in this teaser. It featured scenes from the second season.
