The Google Pixel 6 series was released last month, and it includes a new design, improved camera hardware, Google’s own Tensor SoC, the most recent version of Android, and more. It’s undoubtedly the greatest Pixel smartphone in a long time, but it’s not without flaws.
There are a number of issues with Material You, including reports of a slow fingerprint scanner and even ghost-dialing. However, it appears that consumers will no longer have to struggle with ghost-dialing, as the company is working on a solution.
The hot word detection feature of Google Assistant was later discovered to be the reason, and turning it off resolved the issue. The search engine behemoth promptly acknowledged the problem and has now fixed it with the current version of the Google app, which is now accessible on the Google Play Store.
According to a Pixel community manager on the /r/GooglePixel subreddit, the problem has been resolved by updating to the current Google app (12.43.18 or higher). The update is currently being rolled out on the Google Play Store, according to them. It is now safe to re-enable the “Hey Google” hotword detection feature if you previously disabled it.
So, if you have a Google Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro smartphone, you should upgrade the Google app to the most recent version as soon as possible to resolve the ghost dialling issue.
For the uninitiated, several customers complained that their phone would flash up and say that it was contacting a seemingly random entry on their contact list, even in calm surroundings. As other users confirmed the issue, a Reddit thread on /r/GooglePixel gathered a lot of traction. To make matters worse, customers stated that the problem occurred at different times with different contacts, and that it occurred on multiple Pixel devices, including the Pixel 3a and the Pixel 4a.
They’ve never had this issue with their Google Pixel 6 Pro, and they’ve tried every method folks have found to duplicate it. However, it appears that a large number of users were affected, and it’s nice to see Google releasing a patch.
