The newest PGA Power Rankings are back at the Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin after a brief break following the FedExCup Championship, which Viktor Hovland won easily.
Tom Kim won at Shriners last year, finishing the four rounds without making a bogey to win at -24-under par. After suffering a sprained ankle late in the previous season, Kim is back with confidence and a much healthier version of himself thanks in part to Patrick Cantlay, who triple bogeyed on the 72nd hole.
Naturally, Kim is FanDuel Sportsbook’s outright betting favourite in this group at +1100, closely followed by Ludvig Aberg at +1200. Aberg made an impressive debut on the PGA Tour last year, contending near the top of numerous leaderboards while still looking for his first outright win. He also appeared to have perfected striking greens in regulation. The top five outright betting favourites at Shriners this week are Si Woo Kim, Cam Davis, and J.T. Poston, with five Tour Championship qualifiers in the field.
Prior to the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas, Nevada, PGA handicapper Matt MacKay is back to share his most recent analysis and the best five golfers to wager outright.

Shriners Children’s Course
TPC Summerlin is a par-71 course with a length of around 7,300 yards that is tucked away in the Las Vegas desert. Golfers will only encounter three par 5 holes, one of which is on the front nine, while the next three holes (16–18) provide additional water hazards and alternate between a par 5 and par 3, ending in a difficult par 4 on the last hole. As Tom Kim won the tournament last year with his putting, players who are strong at strokes gained from tee to green will have a leg up over the competition. At this course, a hot flat stick is always helpful.
The Bermudagrass fairways and bentgrass greens at TPC Summerlin have historically resulted in some of the lowest scoring rounds on the tour. These are both brand-new surfaces, and according to the Stimpmeter, the bentgrass greens should roll up to 12 feet, giving players enough of speed to get to the hole with both accurate approach shots and putts. Doglegged fairways that curve around water hazards on the second nine provide plenty of opportunity for wayward lies despite the dry environment.

Power Rankings for Shriners’ Children
Tom Kim +1100
A wager on Tom In terms of strokes gained from the tee to the green, approaching the green, and total driving, the current champion Kim is chalky but also among the top 30. Kim is in excellent shape going into this competition and should feel at ease on the same course he played without a bogey last time. We’ll wager a unit on Kim to successfully defend his championship in the Desert this week since +1100 represents good value in comparison to other outright betting favourites in events with a deeper field.
+3000 Adam Schenk
The value of Adam Schenk is always too low, and +3000 is too amazing to pass up. Schenk recorded a T12 finish at Shriners in 2022 after placing T3 at -19-under par in the previous year. Despite routinely being towards the top of the standings and having a strong finish to the last season, the Indiana native has yet to claim an outright win. Schenk is a worthy pick at the attractive +3000 odds offered by FanDuel Sportsbook.
Adam Hadwin +3500
Adam Hadwin is one of the best available outright betting prospects on this slate. In his previous two appearances at Shriners, the Canadian finished in T10 and T6, respectively. Hadwin is overdue for a victory as he is going for just his second career victory, which occurred at the Valspar Championship back in 2017. Hadwin is a golfer worth backing with several units at TPC Summerlin this weekend after posting five T10 finishes and ranking 23rd in strokes gained putting last season.
Tom Hoge +1 375
Last year, Tom Hoge played three outstanding rounds at TPC Summerlin, but a +1 round on Friday prevented him from contending for the title. Hoge is a player who fluctuates, placing either inside the top 10 or much outside the top 25. Although he plays far less consistently than Hadwin at this price, he finished ninth last year in both hole proximity and strokes gained approaching the green. Hoge is a fantastic candidate to target because of his T4 and T13 previous finishes, but let’s just focus on placing.25 units on his outright line of +3500.
Lucas Herbert +4500
In these top five power rankings, Lucas Herbert has the best odds, resting at +4500 on FanDuel. The Australian player finished in the top twenty at TPC Summerlin in 2022 after shooting -9-under par in the final two rounds to move up to the top 25. His putter, which was ranked 29th in strokes gained putting last season and 32nd on the PGA Tour with an average conversion rate of over 32%, is Herbert’s strongest suit. Let’s bet on Herbert’s prowess with the flat stick since his one-putt percentage of a bracing 43% was eighth best, .5 units at FanDuel on his +4500 odds.
