The 32-team roster of WBIT 2025 was revealed on Sunday, March 16. James Madison, Colorado, Virginia Tech, and Saint Joseph’s all got automatic bids and the top four seeds despite missing out on the 2025 NCAA DI Women’s Basketball Tournament by a slim margin.

How Teams Are Selected for the WBIT
The WBIT features 32 teams, which are chosen through a mix of automatic bids and at-large selections.
The first four teams that do not make it into the NCAA DI Women’s Basketball Tournament, as identified by the selection committee, automatically qualify for the WBIT and are awarded the top four seeds.
In addition, regular season champions from DI conferences that did not receive an NCAA tournament invitation will secure an automatic bid, as long as they meet eligibility criteria and are not undergoing reclassification.
The remaining positions in the WBIT bracket are filled by at-large teams selected by the WBIT selection committee.
Tournament action kicks off with the first, second, and quarterfinal rounds taking place at campus venues, before moving to Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the semifinals and the championship match.
