Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) plans to launch the SU7 Ultra, the most powerful variant of its first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, in the first half of 2025 after unveiling a prototype last week.
The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will be available in the first half of next year and will have the same chassis structure, three motors and battery as the prototype, company founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun said today in a live. video stream.
The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will be a bit more expensive, but not necessarily, Lei said.
Xiaomi will launch the SU7 electric sedan on March 28 and will offer three variants – Standard, Pro and Max – with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($29,700), RMB 245,900 and RMB 299,900, respectively.
At its annual presentation on July 19, Ray unveiled a prototype of the SU7 Ultra, which he said is based on the SU7 and built for performance and the circuit.
The SU7 Ultra prototype is powered by Xiaomi’s V8 engine that spins at 27,200 rpm and produces 1,548 horsepower.
The model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 5.96 seconds, and can reach a top speed of more than 350 km/h.
The SU7 Ultra prototype is equipped with CATL’s Qilin II battery, with a discharge capacity of 800 kW at 20% charge, a peak voltage of 897 V, and supporting a charge multiplier of 5.2 C.
The prototype’s brakes are activated 25 meters from 100 km/h, and the front and rear six-piston brake calipers can operate at temperatures of up to 800°C and above.
The body panels of the SU7 Ultra prototype are made entirely of carbon fiber, covering a total of 15 square meters, reducing the car’s weight to 1,900 kg.
For comparison: the SU7 weighs 1,980 kg for the standard version and 2,205 kg for the Pro and Max versions.
However, it’s worth noting that Ray said today that the production version of the SU7 Ultra won’t use an all-carbon fiber design because it would be too costly.
Xiaomi announced earlier this month that it shipped over 10,000 units of the Xiaomi SU7 in June, and will continue to ship over 10,000 units in July.
